Alexandra Roginski

Dr Alexandra Roginski is an award-winning historian focused on ideas and practices of body and mind. She is a Visiting Fellow of the State Library of New South Wales and Deakin University. In 2019, Alexandra completed a PhD in history at the ANU on the topic of popular science (and especially phrenology) in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand during the second half of the nineteenth century. This work is now the subject of a forthcoming book. A passionate public historian, Alexandra regularly appears on ABC radio and has written for the Times Literary SupplementInside StoryThe Age and the ABC’s Religion & Ethics blog. She also serves as book reviews editor for the History Australia journal and publishes in other academic outlets. In 2021, Alexandra was a research fellow on the ‘(Con)spirituality, Science and the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia’ project and is co-editor of the resulting special issue on conspirituality in the Journal for the Academic Study of Religion. Her successes include the Australian Historical Association’s Jill Roe Prize (2018), shortlisting for the Geoffrey Serle Award (2020), and the State Library of New South Wales CH Currey Memorial Fellowship in Australian History (2021). She has also worked in museums and cultural heritage.
