Monash University Publishing publishes books of the highest standard across the humanities and social sciences, with special interest in books that specialises in Asian Studies, Politics, Education, Communications, Australian history, Indigenous issues, culture and society.

Our Charter

Monash University Publishing has a bold ambition: to build on its reputation as a trusted source of balanced information, and to inform, influence and inspire public discourse.
We seek to engage with the wider community in promoting discussion and debate on contemporary issues through our publications in a wide range of disciplines
Monash University Publishing will add a high level of value to the University by:

  1. Publishing work of the highest quality, ensured by rigorous peer review.
  2. Maximising the impact of Monash University Publishing titles.
  3. Representing the breadth and energy of Monash University research interests (while not excluding contributors from anywhere).
  4. Promoting the free exchange of knowledge.

Our Books

Print versions of Monash University Publishing books are available for purchase from this site and from good retailers around the world.
Monash University Publishing books are also published in e-book format and are available for download to mobile reading devices.

Open Access

Monash University Publishing’s scholarly titles are available through ‘open access’ soon after print publication, ensuring that the reach and readership of these works is maximised.

All open access titles can be accessed via Bridges, Monash University’s institutional research repository.

Peer Review

Monash University Publishing’s titles pass through a rigorous process of peer review prior to being accepted for publication, and a strict criteria for submissions is observed.

Our Authors

There is no requirement that authors published by Monash University Publishing should be part of, or have an institutional connection with, Monash University. However, Monash University Publishing also aims to:

  • represent the breadth and energy of Monash University research interests.
  • play a coordinating role in the production and dissemination of Monash’s scholarly publications; and
  • provide a body of publishing expertise within the University.
