Andrew Leigh is a Member of the Australian House of Representatives. Prior to being elected in 2010, Andrew was a professor of economics at the Australian National University in Canberra. He holds a Harvard PhD and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences. Andrew is the author or co-author of ten prior books, on topics including innovation, inequality, community, globalisation and existential risk.
On the sporting front, Andrew is a keen triathlete and ultramarathoner. A supporter of the Indigenous Marathon Foundation, he has run all six world marathon majors and completed an ironman triathlon (3.8-kilometre swim, 180-kilometre cycle, 42.2-kilometre run). His best marathon time is two hours and forty-two minutes, which is the fastest time ever run by a serving Australian politician.
Andrew is the father of three sons—Sebastian, Theodore and Zachary—and lives with his wife Gweneth in Canberra.
